US cloud-based customer service platform, Zendesk, is launching a global venture fund to support startups that use AI to boost customer and employee experiences.

The fund, announced today (20 June) will include investments in software companies PolyAI and unitQ which use AI to improve customer experience (CX) and operational efficiency.

Zendesk’s global venture fund aims to develop a network of CX and AI experts, as well as industry mentors, that startups in the industry can access. The fund will “open doors to top-tier talent and industry networks”, unitQ co-founder and CEO Christian Wiklund said.

PolyAI is a developer of advanced conversational voice assistants. PolyAI improves otherwise complex CX by allowing users to receive delivery updates and track their orders with ease. This has simultaneously increased revenue for customers and reduced the time spent by employees on calls and inquiries.

The partnership between Zendesk and PolyAI will allow PolyAI to address the market’s need for “more proficient, personalised customer experiences” and “continue to deliver authentic, high-quality interactions over the phone”, Michael Chen, VP of alliances, PolyAI said.
