The UK technology industry saw a rise of 9.4% in overall deal activity during June 2019, when compared with the last 12-month average, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

A total of 116 deals worth $2.14bn were announced in June 2019, compared to the 12-month average of 106 deals.
Venture financing was the leading category in the month in terms of volume with 59 deals which accounted for 50.9% of all deals.
In second place was M&A with 43 deals, followed by private equity with 14 transactions, respectively accounting for 37.1% and 12.1% of overall deal activity in the country’s technology industry during the month.

UK technology industry deals in June 2019: Top deals
The top five technology industry deals accounted for 74.8% of the overall value during June 2019.
The combined value of the top five technology industry deals stood at $1.6bn, against the overall value of $2.14bn recorded for the month. The top announced UK technology industry deal tracked by GlobalData in June 2019 was MEIF six Fibre’s $709.38m private equity deal with KCOM Group.
In second place was the $623.05m asset transaction with Gamesys by JPJ Group and in third place was Blue Prism Group’s $100.3m acquisition of Thoughtonomy.
The $99.28m acquisition of Scisys by CGI Group Holdings Europe and Fairview Equity Partners and Silversmith Capital Partners’ private equity deal with Unily for $68m held fourth and fifth positions, respectively.
