Computer and Mathematical Occupations drive social responsibility-related hiring activity
Computer and Mathematical Occupations, with a share of 21%, emerged as the top social responsibility-related job roles within the technology industry in Q2 2024, with new job postings drop by 23% quarter-on-quarter. Management Occupations came in second with a share of 20% in Q2 2024, with new job postings dropping by 18% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent social responsibility roles include Architecture and Engineering Occupations with an 8% share in Q2 2024, Sales and Related Occupations with a 7% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in technology industry accounted for 18% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2024 were Oracle, Micron Technology, Comcast, Microsoft, and Flex. Together they accounted for a combined share of 18% of all social responsibility-related new jobs in the technology industry.
Oracle posted 3,971 social responsibility-related new jobs in Q2 2024, Micron Technology 2,456 jobs, Comcast 2,336 jobs, Microsoft 1,716 jobs, and Flex 1,683 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 48.48% share of total new job postings, Q2 2024
The largest share of social responsibility-related new job postings in the technology industry in Q2 2024 was in the US with 48.48% followed by India (13.41%) and the UK (5.79%). The share represented by the US was one percentage point higher than the 47.73% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
