A recently granted patent (Publication Number: US11756423B2) describes an automatic vehicle positioning management method. The method involves performing wireless positioning among multiple vehicles in a fleet to obtain wireless positioning points. GPS positioning points are also obtained for each vehicle via GPS. The method then calculates the offsets between the wireless positioning points and the GPS positioning points for each vehicle. By calculating the sum of these offsets, the method identifies trusted wireless positioning points and corresponding trusted GPS positioning points with the least position errors. Image overlay is performed on these trusted points. The method also uses the non-trusted wireless positioning points to correct the non-trusted GPS positioning points.

In one embodiment of the method, the calculation of offsets is done by first obtaining two trusted wireless positioning points and two corresponding trusted GPS positioning points with the least position errors. Image overlay is then performed on these trusted points.

The wireless positioning in the method determines the relative positions and distances between the wireless positioning points using direction angle positioning and distance positioning.

The method also includes supplementing the corrected GPS positioning points with missing GPS positioning points based on the wireless positioning points. Additionally, the corrected GPS positioning points can be supplemented with wireless positioning points located outside an effective range.

This automatic vehicle positioning management method provides a way to improve the accuracy of GPS positioning by using wireless positioning points to correct and supplement the GPS data. By identifying trusted points with the least position errors, the method ensures more reliable positioning information for the vehicles in a fleet. The use of image overlay further enhances the accuracy of the positioning data. This method can be beneficial for various applications that rely on accurate vehicle positioning, such as fleet management, navigation systems, and autonomous driving technologies.
