A recently granted patent (Publication Number: US11967610B2) discloses a method for making a transimpedance amplifier device. The method involves providing a semiconductor, forming a high voltage integrated capacitor with interdigitated fingers, and integrating a resistor to create a radio frequency (RF) filter along with the transimpedance amplifier. The high voltage integrated capacitor can receive signals between 60 and 90 volts and is coupled to the integrated resistor. Additionally, an avalanche photodiode (APD) can be disposed over the device, with its cathode connected to a circuit node between the capacitor and resistor, and its anode linked to the transimpedance amplifier.

Furthermore, the patent describes a transimpedance amplifier device comprising a semiconductor substrate, an integrated capacitor, and an integrated resistor forming an RF filter with the transimpedance amplifier. The integrated capacitor can be connected to a high voltage power input circuit node through the integrated resistor, receiving voltages of 35 volts or higher. An APD can be placed over the semiconductor substrate, with its cathode connected to a circuit node between the capacitor and resistor, and its anode linked to the transimpedance amplifier. The device can be housed in a can-shaped package with a lens to guide fiber-optic signals onto the APD, enhancing its functionality in optical communication systems.
