German enterprise software company SAP announced on Wednesday (5 June) that it is acquiring Israel-based “digital adoption” company WalkMe for $1.5bn (€1.38bn).
WalkMe, founded in 2011, provides consumer and enterprise applications with on-screen guidance with on-screen prompts. The company delivers a service that can automate the onboarding of employees or the guiding of users through a company’s new features.
The company said it can detect where people encounter friction on a company’s application and provide tailored support and automation to complete the job.
“Applications, processes, data and people are the four key elements of a successful business transformation,” SAP CEO Christian Klein said.
“By acquiring WalkMe, we are doubling down on the support we provide our end users, helping them to quickly adopt new solutions and features to get the maximum value out of their IT investments,” he added.
WalkMe will soon launch its WalkMeX copilot, which acts as an overlay to any application and uses AI to suggest the best next step for a workflow.
