Analysis of patenting activity by companies shows that Samsung Electronics filed the most future of work patents within the technology industry in Q3 2024. The company filed 317 future of work-related patents in the quarter, compared with 517 in the previous quarter. It was followed by Hitachi with 211 future of work patent filings, Siemens (205 filings), and Huawei Investment (201 filings) in Q3 2024.

Patenting activity was driven by China with a 35% share of total patent filings

The largest share of future of work related patent filings in the technology industry in Q3 2024 was in China with 35%, followed by the US (22%) and Japan (6%). The share represented by China was 18% lower than the 53% share it accounted for in Q2 2024.
