Speaking at its ‘Advancing AI’ event in San Francisco on 10 October, AMD CEO Lisa Su revealed the company’s third generation of Ryzen processors: the Ryzen AI Pro 300 series.

The processors were unveiled alongside AI chips in the EPYC and Instinct brands and AMD’s upgraded DPU offering: the Pensando Salina 400 DPU and Pensando Pollara 400 Ultra Ethernet AI NIC.

The Ryzen AI Pro 300 series will address the needs of business PCs, and Su promised that the series would boost enterprise productivity, offering immersive collaboration, enhanced privacy and personal AI assistance.

“Collaboration will become much better with things like instant meeting transcriptions, real-time translations and automated summaries,” said Su.

“For creators, AI will enable much richer content to be developed in less time, and AI will actually give all of us our very own personal assistant to manage every aspect of our lives, which would be wonderful. All of this can be done locally to protect your privacy. This is the promise of the AI PC.”

AMD’s Ryzen Pro 300 series represents the company’s third generation of commercial AI mobile processors. Codenamed Strix, it follows Ryzen Hawk – AMD’s Ryzen Mobile 8040 series of mobile processors.

The processors are designed for business productivity with Copilot+ features. These include AI image generation, live captioning and language translation. The series features Zen 5 architecture and, according to AMD, is the world’s best lineup of commercial processors for Copilot+ enterprise PCs.

Compared to Intel’s Core Ultra 7 165U, the top-of-the-stack product Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 3375 offers up to 14% faster productivity and 40% higher performance, AMD says.

The processors included in the Ryzen 300 Pro series are built on a 4nm process with innovative power management. Serving business needs, the new AMD Ryzen AI Pro PCs will boast up to 23 hours of battery life and nine hours on Microsoft Teams.

Looking forward, Su said: “The AMD Ryzen AI Pro 300 series resets the bar for what a business PC can do.”

She added that, through OEM partners including HP and Lenovo, AMD expects more than 100 Ryzen AI Pro PCs to launch in 2025.
