Europe to tackle Trump at NATO summit
Dozens of head of states and government officials will meet in Brussels today to kick off what is expected to be a tense two days of talks at the annual NATO summit.

President of the United States Donald Trump is expected to take centre stage in Belgium, having criticised many of NATO’s practices in the past year. Donald Tusk, President of the European Council, has warned Trump to “appreciate your allies” ahead of the meeting.
Eastern European countries are expected to use the summit to plead for more NATO troops to be placed in their countries due to the rising threat of Russia. Vladimir Putin’s Kremlin has warned that it would retaliate to any increase in NATO presence along its borders.
Delegations started arriving at the NATO HQ from 8:45am London time this morning. A formal introduction and opening ceremony will begin the summit at 12:15pm.
Senate takes steps towards paid family leave
The United States’ Subcommittee on Social Security, Pensions, and Family Policy will come together today to discuss the introduction of paid family leave in the American workforce. This is the first step towards passing a bill that could have a major impact on the lives of many Americans, workplaces and the US economy.

Studies have found that the introduction of compulsory paid family leave could lower infant mortality rates, reduce gender inequality and increase family income, which will in turn help to boost the economy.
The hearing, titles Examining the Importance of Paid Family Leave for American Working Families, will get underway in Washington, D.C. at 8pm London time.
Three Lions continue fight to bring it home
England will today find out whether it will play in its first World Cup final since it won the tournament back in 1966.
Football fever has been building in the country over the past few weeks, with Harry Kane’s tournament-leading goal tally and a penalty shootout victory over Colombia helping to convince fans that it might actually be coming home.
However, Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions must first take on Croatia at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow this evening for a place in the final. The winner of that game will then face France to determine the winner of the 2018 World Cup.
The game will get underway at 7pm London time, with the final to be held on Sunday, 15 June.
