Good morning, here’s your Friday morning briefing to set you up for the day ahead. Look out for these three things happening around the world today.

Shareholders to decide fate of Express Scripts

Express Scripts shareholders will meet today to discuss the proposed $54bn takeover bid by medical insurance company Cigna.

The prescription management company, the 25th largest in the United States, has urged shareholders to agree to the proposed merger.

The deal has faced criticism from billionaire investor Carl Icahn, who said that it “may well become one of the worst blunders in corporate history” in an open letter. However, he has now given Cigna his backing following “favourable analyses” from experts.

With shareholders expected to vote for the deal to go ahead, the Express Scripts stock price has climbed by 20% since Cignma’s takeover bid was announced back in March. Express Scripts stock is currently valued at around $88 on the NASDAQ exchange, up from $73 in March.

Bolton will watch the military parade in Kiev, before holding talks with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman, Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin, and Defence Minister Stepan Poltorak.

According to reports, Bolton has been sent to Ukraine to inspect the country’s recovery following the 2013 Ukrainian crisis. Ukraine has relied heavily on US support following a civilian coup that ousted then-President Viktor Yanukovych.

In the five years that have followed, Ukraine’s national debt has quadrupled to $71.7bn. The new government had been forced to borrow large sums in order to maintain Ukraine’s economy during the crisis.

Today’s celebrations will mark 25 years since Ukraine declared independence from the Soviet Union.

Report to shed light on Clinton-Lewinsky leaks

More than two decades on since the Clinton-Lewinsky sex scandal became public knowledge, Washington could finally shed some light on who leaked details of the Bill Clinton’s infidelity during his time in the White House.

The scandal centred on sexual relations between Clinton and White House intern Monica Lewinsky, which almost led to the former President’s impeachment in 1998.

The National Archives has until 8pm London time to release a 1999 report into the affair, known as the Starr Report.

The report is believed to offer information on whether Supreme Court judge Brett Kavanaugh, who helped leading lawyer Ken Starr to draft the Starr Report, was behind the leaking of confidential information to the media.
