May 2021 has seen an decrease of 2.8% in the overall hiring activity when compared with April 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 31.65% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in May 2021, registering an increase of 0.66% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in May 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 69.41% in May 2021, a 5.95% growth over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 14.3% in May 2021, marking a 35.25% month-on-month an increase. In the third place was Computer Support Specialists with a share of 8.06% in May 2021, a 1.06% drop from April 2021.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 19.49% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s technology industry during May 2021 over previous month.
Fiverr International posted 93 IT jobs in May 2021 and registered a an increase of 69.09% over the previous month, followed by Dell Technologies with 88 jobs and a 23.94% growth. Orange with 73 IT jobs and Check Point Software Technologies with 62 jobs, recorded a 6.41% decline and a 244.44% increase, respectively, while Vodafone Group recorded a 36.26% decline with 58 job postings during May 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Middle East & Africa’s technology industry
Israel commanded a leading presence in the region’s technology industry IT hiring activity with a 50.61% share in May 2021, a 14.73% rise over April 2021. Egypt featured next with a 13.78% share, down 24.64% over the previous month. South Sudan recorded a 6.59% share, a growth of 22.58% compared with April 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 75.82%, up by 7.23% from April 2021. Mid Level positions with a 14.82% share, a decline of 10.47% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 9.27% share, up 40.79% over April 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.09%, recording a month-on-month decline of 75%.
