US-based company Microsoft’s IT hiring declined 1.6% in May 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
The company’s overall hiring activity declined by 1.24% in May 2021 when compared with April 2021.
IT jobs claimed a 43.32% share in the company’s total hiring activity in May 2021, and recorded a 0.63% growth over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers tops Microsoft IT hiring in May 2021
Out of the total IT job titles posted by Microsoft, Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers emerged as the leading occupation, recording a share of 70.69% in May 2021, and a 21.02% drop over April 2021, while Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a share of 20.56% in May 2021, and registered a 35.06% an increase. Computer and Information Research Scientists held a share of 5.42% in May 2021, a 44.19% rise from April 2021.

North America emerged as the leading region in the global technology IT hiring activity in May 2021 with a 56.08% share, which marked a 16.75% drop over the previous month.
Asia-Pacific stood next with 26.51%, registering a 7.9% month-on-month decline. Europe was the third leading region with an 11.55% share and a 7.04% drop over April 2021.
In the fourth place was Middle East & Africa with a share of 4.37% and a month-on-month an increase of 31.58%.South & Central America stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 1.49%, registering a 15% drop over the previous month.
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s technology industry IT hiring activity with a 50.13% share in May 2021, a 17.44% decline over April 2021. China featured next with an 11.46% share, down 5.76% over the previous month.India recorded a 10.76% share, decline of 17.45% compared with April 2021.
Junior Level jobs lead Microsoft IT hiring activity in May 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 76.2%, down by 17.21% from April 2021. Mid Level positions with a 16.8% share, a decline of 12.33% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 6.82% share, up 188.89% over April 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.17%, recording a month-on-month an increase of 100%.
