September 2021 has seen a decrease of 4.97% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 32.79% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2021, registering a decrease of 1.15% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 67.16% in September 2021, a 25.07% drop over the previous month. Computer Support Specialists came in next, claiming a share of 12.33% in September 2021, marking a 12.22% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 11.84% in September 2021, a 5.83% drop from August 2021.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 2.93% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s technology industry during September 2021 over previous month.
Orange posted 144 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered an increase of 132.26% over the previous month, followed by International Business Machines with 35 jobs and a 59.09% growth. Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson with 35 IT jobs and Vodafone Group with 35 jobs, recorded a 12.5% drop and a 55.13% drop, respectively, while Fiverr International recorded a 54.93% decline with 32 job postings during September 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Middle East & Africa’s technology industry
Israel commanded a leading presence in the region’s technology industry IT hiring activity with a 36.14% share in September 2021, a 44.88% decrease over August 2021. Egypt featured next with a 16.48% share, up 29.81% over the previous month. Morocco recorded an 8.18% share, a drop of 12.99% compared with August 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 64.35%, down by 18.8% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with a 21% share, registered a decline of 21.46% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 14.41% share, down 26.71% over August 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.24%, recording a month-on-month growth of 100%.
