Germany’s technology industry saw a drop of 21.8% in overall deal activity during April 2020, when compared with the last 12-month average, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

A total of 43 deals worth $375.27m were announced in April 2020, compared to the 12-month average of 55 deals.
Venture financing was the leading category in the month in terms of volume with 27 deals which accounted for 62.8% of all deals.
In second place was M&A with nine deals, followed by private equity with seven transactions, respectively accounting for 20.9% and 16.3% of overall deal activity in the country’s technology industry during the month.

The top five technology industry deals accounted for 84.9% of the overall value during April 2020.
The combined value of the top five technology deals stood at $318.74m, against the overall value of $375.27m recorded for the month.

1) Investcorp Technology Partners’ $180m private equity deal with Avira Holding GmbH & Co
2) The $65m venture financing of Taxfix by Creandum Advisor, Index Ventures, Redalpine Venture Partners and Valar Ventures Management
3) Coatue Management’s $30.2m venture financing of Choco Communications
4) The $27.24m venture financing of xbAV by Armada Investment Group, Cinco Capital and HPE Growth Capital
5) Ann-Kristin Achleitner, Rolf Dienst, Wolfgang Reitzle and yabeo Capital’s venture financing of Smart Reporting for $16.3m.
