A recently granted patent (Publication Number: US11960082B2) discloses a virtual reality system that includes a head-mounted display (HMD) fixed on a user's head, equipped with multiple cameras to capture the environment and a processor to execute an object detector. The system also features a tracker fixed on the user's limb with cameras to capture frames, transmitting data to the object detector for updating an environment coverage frame. The object detector determines a three-dimensional intersection area of frames, searches for object positions based on target feature points, and sets initial object positions accordingly.

Furthermore, the system involves specific frames and field of view configurations, where the object detector detects object frames within the HMD field of view, frames object field views smaller than the HMD field of view, and sets initial object positions based on specific feature points. The method also includes a tracker frame covering a specific field of view, intersecting with the object field of view, and setting object positions based on target feature points in the intersection area. This innovative system and method aim to enhance object detection in virtual reality environments, providing a more immersive and interactive experience for users.
