California-based Align Technology, a medical device company that designs and manufactures the Invisalign clear aligners used in orthodontics, has announced plans to open a new manufacturing facility in Wroclaw, Poland to better serve the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) market. The new plant will be the company’s first in the EMEA region and its third worldwide, joining Juarez in Mexico and Ziyang in China.
The facility will open in early 2022 and forms part of the company’s plans to bring its operational facilities closer to its customers. More than 9.6 million patients have been treated with the Invisalign system worldwide, including two million patients within the EMEA region as of the fourth quarter of 2020. More than 2,500 jobs are expected to be created at the plant by the end of 2025, representing the company’s largest investment in EMEA to date.
“Poland has some of the world’s best specialists in digitisation and support instruments, such as dedicated economic zones or the government grant programmes that significantly simplify the procedure for business development,” said Polish Deputy Prime Minister Jaroslaw Gowin, who is also minister for development, labour and technology. “We are pleased that another investor in Align Technology has recognised these opportunities and decided to expand its presence in the EMEA region by planning to open the largest 3D printing and manufacturing plant in Poland.”
