Computer and Mathematical Occupations drive 3D printing-related hiring activity

Computer and Mathematical Occupations, with a share of 31%, emerged as the top 3D printing-related job roles within the technology industry in Q2 2024, with new job postings drop by 20% quarter-on-quarter. Architecture and Engineering Occupations came in second with a share of 21% in Q2 2024, with new job postings dropping by 20% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent 3D printing roles include Management Occupations with an 11% share in Q2 2024, Production Occupations with a 4% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in technology industry accounted for 21% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2024 were Stratasys, Belcan, 3D Systems, FARO Technologies, and Markforged Holding. Together they accounted for a combined share of 21% of all 3D printing-related new jobs in the technology industry.

Stratasys posted 75 3D printing-related new jobs in Q2 2024, Belcan 59 jobs, 3D Systems 41 jobs, FARO Technologies 41 jobs, and Markforged Holding 32 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 62.24% share of total new job postings, Q2 2024

The largest share of 3D printing-related new job postings in the technology industry in Q2 2024 was in the US with 62.24% followed by India (8.92%) and the UK (3.36%). The share represented by the US was four percentage points higher than the 58.46% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
