North America extended its dominance for cybersecurity hiring among tech industry companies in the three months ending July, new data from GlobalData reveals.
The rising number of cyberattacks over the years has cemented the importance of cybersecurity for tech companies and the need for them to keep hiring specialists to beef up their digital defences.
The number of roles in North America made up 56% of total cybersecurity jobs – up from 47.6% in the same quarter last year.
That was followed by Europe, which saw a 1.1 year-on-year percentage point change in cybersecurity roles.
The figures are compiled by GlobalData, who track the number of new job postings from key companies in various sectors over time. Using textual analysis, these job advertisements are then classified thematically.

The fastest growing country was the United States, which saw 43.6% of all cybersecurity job adverts in the three months ending July 2021, increasing to 51.6% in the three months ending July this year.
That was followed by Germany (up 1.2 percentage points), Spain (0.5), and Poland (0.5).

Which cities and locations are the biggest hubs for cybersecurity workers in the tech industry?
Some 4.3% of all tech industry cybersecurity roles were advertised in Bengaluru (India) in the three months ending July.
That was followed by Austin (United States) with 2.1%, Reading (United States) with 2%, and Hyderabad (India) with 1.8%.
